【General Review-OVERSEAS and JAPAN CATEGORIES】
This year, in contrast to the trend in previous years, works that featured subjects newly discovered by the photographer stood out. The International Photographic Salon allows entries of works created through image processing such as image compositing, and in the past, such works have won top prizes, so in a sense, this year's competition was rather refreshing.
Globally, the new Corona has not completely concluded, and large-scale wars continue in many parts of the world. Although the situation is quite pessimistic, there are many cheerful photographs of everyday life, and the sense of importance and joy expressed in these works gives the viewer a sense of hope.
Although AI imagery has become increasingly popular recently, a characteristic of this year's competition was that works with a humanistic and natural feel, which cannot be expressed digitally, were awarded prizes. On the other hand, looking at the works in general, to reach the higher levels of the competition, it is necessary not only for the photographs to be well finished and to have impact, but also for them to appeal to the viewers and to inspire their imaginations.

The results of The 84th International Photographic Salon are as follows.
SPECIAL PRIZE 「
The boy holds the chip in his mouth and tries to take more. The angle of view is appropriate and the overall balance is good. This work took the best chance to capture the moment. The boy's desperation also clearly expressed in this work. The motorcycle circus, which is rarely seen in Japan, even makes one feel a kind of nostalgia. While there were many beautiful works in the OVERSEAS CATEGORY, the realistic works came out on high ranking.
SPECIAL PRIZE 「
I wonder if I will ever be able to put my body in this floating ring. This work makes us smile and imagine such a thing. The colors, typical of Italy, evoke the beauty of the Mediterranean Sea. The viewer can feel the daily happiness of the elderly couple, and the overall pastel, muted colors enhance the beauty of the work.
SPECIAL PRIZE 「
I feel a mysteriousness from the works. Recently, many Korean dramas produce works with a fantasy-like atmosphere. As if to evoke this, the work seems to have been shot realistically and post-processed. The composition is lovely and expresses a certain worldview. What will happen in the next moment? This work has a narrative quality that makes us curious about such things and makes us imagine something.
